These are sample internship postings for ESL students in Vancouver. These jobs are ones that we have placed students in before – all of these companies have proven that they are willing to accept ESL students, they provide good training, and provide a real project-based internship experience.
To be placed in one of these internships as a student, you need to be involved in a school program that requires an internship placement. There is a fee for placement into one of these internships. Internship 1: Finance
Intern with the head office of a national securities firm – Learn about high finance, including securities and investments. Build important technical skills, learn industry-related vocabulary and spend your days in the head office of a Canadian secruities firm. In this internship, you’ll feel like you’re in the movie ‘Wall Street’. You’ll work in a black banking tower downtown, wear a suit to work each day, conduct investment research and some marketing, you’ll learn how to use the all-important Bloomberg terminal and build amazing resume experience. Your coworkers will all be the best of Vancouver’s financial world. The minimum time for this internship is 6 weeks, but you can work as long as 6 months.
Internship 2: Law
Learn about immigration law, litigation, family law. Work with a team of Canadian lawyers at a downtown law firm, attend court and get experience that will help you in your future career. The intern in this job will work each day at a law firm downtown. They will report to a lawyer, who will assign them different special tasks each day. Some of those tasks include regular office work like filing, data entry, and reception duties. But, depending on your skill level, these duties can also include work on legal documents, legal research, and supporting your lawyer in court. The minimum time for this internship is 4 weeks, but you can work as long as 6 months.
Internship 3: Marketing
Work with a brand manager at a marketing house – promoting products for different Canadian companies and products. Learn about outsourced marketing, and different marketing methods with an internship at a Canadian firm. With a marketing company, you’ll do a mix of work. If your English skills are very advanced, you could find yourself making marketing calls and writing copy. But even at an intermediate English level you will sit in on marketing meetings, client consultations, and you will have the opportunity to assist with research and even events like trade shows. As with many office internships, your day will be split between industry specific work, and general office duties such as reception work and filing. The minimum time for this internship is 4 weeks, but you can work as long as 6 months.
Internship 4: International Trade
Work in import and export research for an international trading agency. This internship host company is looking for interns who can help market Canadian products overseas. Work in a downtown office tower, with Canada’s largest international trading connections agency. This company helps introduce Canadian companies and products to overseas partners. The biggest part of their job is looking for foreign companies to partner with. This is a very focused internship. You’ll work with a product manager to build important business contacts for a specific Canadian firm. Depending on how long you intern for, you make work in partnership with many different Canadian companies. The minimum time for this internship is 6 weeks, but you can work as long as 6 months.
Internship 5: Information Technology
Intern at a software, web applications, or computer consulting company. Put your skills and education to use at a cutting edge Canadian web applications, software, or IT consulting firm. These are three different internships, depending on your skills or education. Knowledge of IT is an absolute requirement for any of these three internships. In a web applications internship, you will use your .Net programming experience to build applications that interface with Google, with Facebook, with iPhones, or that run on stand-alone websites. In software design, you’ll put your C++ skills to use working on different types of software for mobile devices. In systems administration, you will help set up and manager servers, and work on day to day tech support requests. In all cases you will be closely supervised by a team of young IT professionals. The minimum time for this internship is 4 weeks, but you can work as long as 6 months.

I am Shraddha Gheewala pursuing my Mater Business Administration (MBA)/ Masters of Science in International Business (MScIB) from Vancouver Island University. My studies will end in December 2010 with a major course in Finance field. I will have to do my internship for 16 weeks after that in a finance based company. Seeing the details i was attracted to this internship post in Finance.

I wish to apply for the position of IT internship in print/digital media as Graphic designer or
Web designer / developer.
My professional career in the area of the print media as a media designer and
have a certification in the area printing technologist.
I have studied in Bachelor Media Informatics in Germany and three semesters
in the AUT in Auckland. In the further I will study online Master of Fine Arts Degree.
My new main focuses in the area of new media are print/web design and development,
flash and 3d animation, audio and video production, game programming.
